BioPunk imagines a world in which living organisms are connected to computers. In what kind of time and space would such a being live?
This work turns a cockroach into a clock through electrical stimulation. Its brain is removed to prevent spontaneous movement and changes in behavior through learning. Electrical stimulation is applied to its forelegs once per second, making the cockroach rotate. Attached clock hands mark the time.
The clock face is made of transparent acrylic. By blending into the background, it suggests how this being might adapt to different spaces.
